Guests consistently praise the spacious, modern rooms, convenient location near shopping and dining, and the friendly service of the General Manager and staff. However, negative reviews cite confusing and unhelpful front desk management, occasional room maintenance issues like plumbing and HVAC noise, and a controversial $7 daily parking fee.
My parents stayed at the Sonesta Select in Pleasanton Hill for a couple of nights and just checked out yesterday, and I couldn’t be happier hearing how wonderful their stay was. As their son, it means so much to me when a hotel treats my family with genuine respect and care, and this property did not disappoint. With the Super Bowl coming up, finding a hotel in the area at a reasonable price was tough, but this place turned out to be perfect. From the moment my parents arrived, the staff went above and beyond. They were greeted by a manager who helped with check-in and made their very first Sonesta experience feel special. The next morning, that same employee greeted them again, chatted with them, and said something that really touched me: that guests are part of the family and everyone at the hotel treats each other like family. That kind of warmth and personal attention is rare and so meaningful. My parents usually stay at Marriotts, so trying Sonesta was new for them, and I can honestly say this was a 10 out of 10 experience. What made it even more important was that they had a very stressful meeting the following day. They were nervous the whole stay, but thanks to the incredible staff, they felt calm, cared for, and truly comfortable. I am so grateful to the team at Sonesta Select Pleasanton Hill. From the little personal touches to the genuine kindness, they made my parents feel valued and respected, and that means more than words can express. We hope to stay again soon.
I've been staying at this hotel for a couple weeks and it's been a great experience. My review is pretty long, so prepare yourself for my novel of a review. Get yourself something to drink and sit back and relax. Here are some of my favorite things about the hotel. Their bed and pillows are amazingly comfortable. My room has a vaulted ceiling and gorgeous floor ceiling blackout curtains with a giant TV that has HBO and Netflix Outside my room there's a giant patio, which is really nice to sit on at night. They also have a brand new little dog park, which is gated in and has plenty of space for my little dogs to play. Parking is easy and so far has been extremely safe, which is awesome I love my couch as well because it has outlets and I can easily charge my devices and work from the sofa. There's also an oversized ottoman that you can put your feet up on The shower has beautiful glass doors and really nice white tiles on the wall. Best part about it though is it has good water pressure, which is huge for getting all the shampoo out of my hair. The shower also has shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. They don't use the little plastic bottles which I love because those are terrible for the environment. It's also very quiet and peaceful here. Most of the people here are workers from out of town who go to work early in the morning and come back in the evening so most of the time I have the hotel to myself. They also have a snack shop upfront so when I'm feeling lazy, I can go up and buy snacks which is great because DoorDash can get expensive The maids do a fantastic job cleaning the rooms. I came back and it was like I've never even stayed in the room. It was sparkling. I haven't had the breakfast here, but I've seen their spread and it's very nice. I love interior design and their lobby is stunning. Jay, the general manager, was very nice and gave me a large dog bed and water dish for my dogs. They also have complementary dog snacks in the lobby. Just another little perk that makes it feel like home for me and my dogs. Thank you guys so much for making my stay wonderful. I love this hotel
They charge $7 for parking. This is in a suburban area where there are numerous free parking lots everywhere and 99.9% of hotel guests will arrive with a car. Completely unacceptable. I understand why city hotels charge for parking and everyone knows to check the parking cost (and might just use Uber). This is the worst junk charge I’ve seen in a very long time. Sonesta is one of my last choices for a hotel and it seems they are working hard to win the race to the bottom.
I am very disappointed to be writing such a disparaging review but with the treatment of me and my girlfriend this previous night I felt I had no other option than to speak my truth. Firstly I want to say the room had a strong odor of B.O. upon entering, almost as if someone just left that room 20 minutes before we got there. So, on a busy Saturday night at around 2am, we were interrupted by hotel management that our tv was playing too loud. To which we replied that the tvs volume was only playing at 25-30 on the scale which does not seem loud to us (considering the tv goes up to 100) but especially not for a Saturday night. We were told if you can hear the tv playing outside of the door than that is too loud, and we have the choice to either turn the tv off or down or we would be asked to leave. I find this an extremely disrespectful choice of words, as a paying customer I should never be suggested to turn my device off to appease others. I could understand this if we were throwing a party with a dozen people, playing music, excessively talking or drinking, but no, All that was happening was two people watching a movie in a hotel room that costs approximately $150 a night. I believe Im owed a midnight movie with surround sound for that price let alone below 50 out of a 100 on the tv volume scale which THEY PROGRAM. I am empathetic to a noisy neighbor to some degree but on a Saturday night in a hotel during the holidays..I feel as if it is unreasonable to be expecting and pressuring your guests to keep things at a church noise level
This was a lovely hotel, nicer than we expected. Perfectly located right across from that pretty Pleasant Hill outdoor high end shopping area, where we discovered Paris Baguette which is a 10 star bakery! The staff was a bit preoccupied, but courteous. Except the nighttime front desk clerk, Jacky or Jaky, was super friendly and helpful -- found us pizza delivery ON Thanksgiving at 10pm! However -- Our refrig was actually a freezer and froze all of our roadtrip food. They offered to replace it but we said it's ok, we'll just let everything thaw out. Also the toilet paper holder was broken, so we let them know to fix that after we leave. The elevators were kinda janky, and a few times smelled liked pot or beer. For the price of the room (which was big and clean), it's unfortunate that there wasn't a free breakfast, even if only a continental breakfast or even just coffee (!!) available in the lobby... Overall a nice 3-night experience though due to the room cleanliness and location.
Clean hotel, every staff member I have encountered have been polite, professional and very helpful. Did I mention clean? Rooms are spacious and in great shape down to the carpet.Bathroom very clean, nice place to stay.
The rooms were cleaned and neat. Location very nice, close to a lot of restaurants/ shopping centers. Only 25 minutes from Berkeley and about 45 to San Francisco without traffic. Service was not great not only in the morning. Requested fresh towels and the receptionist ( female) said" we don't have anyone right now, come downstairs later and ask for towels at the front desk". They did not clean the room while we were out sightseeing ( it was Requested) , but the male at night was very nice and provided great service.
My daughter is a wheelchair user and this hotel has the most accessible and well thought-out room available in the area. We travel frequently for appointments around the bay area and have had a very difficult time finding a room that she can use without difficulty. This is it. This is the place with the room you can maneuver and feel confident that you can use without any help. There are buttons for the doors, the beds are a perfect transfer height, the floor plan is wide and maneuverable, the shower is a roll up with a bench that can be lifted for any guest that is with you that doesn't need it, the vanity area is one that you can use in your chair. The room we used had ceilings that are vaulted and made the room feel huge. After struggling to find a truly accessible room going city to city, this is the place. Thank you!
Rooms were clean, the gym was clean, the restaurant and coffee bar was barely open and the breakfast did not look good. The front desk at check in was great, not so great at check out but overall the stay was good and the room was very nice. Not a fan of freeway views but that’s what you get with this location the nice pet was that there was a lot of food options outside of the hotel.
For starters, we mainly booked this room for the indoor pool shown on Google maps which the hotel did not have in over 3-5 years. When we got here I was hoping to see something to wow me due to the fact the hotel is more costly than the Hilton, however I was greeted by a mediocre at best (in comparison to their rates) lobby and service from the front desk; I was most pleased by the quietness and ability to do my laundry without any concerns or foot traffic. My biggest concern at this establishment is when my family awoke my wife and I drove our daughter to school for her last day and then my wife dropped me off at work and returned to our room at 10 am to see all of our belongings disposed of and front desk to have no explanation but that they cleaned the room. This is illegal and unlawful and many counts and levels, I am requesting full reimbursement and the return of all my property. However, at this point I don't think my property is salvageable so I believe the hotel has a lot of making up to do this is super unfortunate and I would hate to have to get legal aide or law enforcement involved.
